Exquisite item!!
This
is a nice handmade katana. It is fully functional.
Handmade katana swords that do not have the same.
I do not know exactly how much the value of
this sword, but the view of the physical condition of
the very rare shows that this sword has a re-sale value
in the thousands of dollars.
Japanese sword Katana, hand made and hand carved,
grained sturdy blade, steel scabbard enchased with brass
thread, (guard, collar, end-cap, scabbard mouth and cap)
made of brass, hilt wrapped in bound with string. In
excellent condition.
I've never used this sword to cut
bamboo or iron because I honor old age.
But I guarantee that this sword is very
sharp as a razor because I have just sharpen with eight
times the process of sharpening using Japanese water
stones.
Since
the Samurai were the top social class in ancient feudal
Japan, they were the aristocracy that developed the
technology behind these blades that cannot be matched.
Also the Samurai developed the Japanese artwork of the
day and perfected other roles as they were of the
highest social class.
Here is a brief History of
the important role that the Samurai Warrior has played
in Japan `S history.
For a people of such integrity in everything they do,
one must realize that the sacred sword that the Japanese
held so dear was possibly the product of many of the
countrys
most educated and devout smiths resulting in the fusion
of technology and artwork. Continuous warfare of living
and dying by the Sword resulted in the code of Bushido.
(Way of the Warrior including strict guidelines of
behavior to preserve Honor)
Bushido is what governed the Samurai live a life of high
honor and service and to commit ritual suicide know as
seppuku, if ever they lost a battle of had been
disgraced in any way. The Samurai was trained to either
win the fight or die by his opponent` s sword or by his
own blade to avoid surrender. This was done to preserve
the honor and to keep the family from being shamed by
the defeat.
This
is a real sword made by a master sword smith by hand. It
is not a cheap with a spot-welded rod for a handle. This
Katana has a handmade blade with a nice pattern .
Real
handmade swords have a wood grain like pattern in the
outer skin called the
the Jihada.
Please
googling to find information about jihada.
It comes
from laminating many layers of steel to make the blade
flexible. The blades are made by starting with a piece
of hard steel to serve as the foundation of the sword.
The skin or is made of hundreds of layers of softer
steel that serve as a way to make the sword more
flexible and resistant to breaking. Next the sword is
covered in a ceramic like clay with just the cutting
portion of the blade exposed and heated and tempered.
This results in a very hard cutting edge on a flexible
yet hard blade. Then the blade is adorned with artwork
like the tsuba and handle and scabbard.
The machine made blades are not as valuable, and
do not have such a beautiful and important quality. It
is not certain how old this sword is and one would need
an appraisal from a professional Samurai Sword expert
for more information as I am not an expert and have
not paid for an appraisal. This
is a full size katana and is fully functional.
